World tours can be draining and exhausting, not just for the artist, but also for the dozens of crew members working tirelessly behind the scenes.

The long hours, time away from home and relentless travel can take a toll on anyone’s mental well-being.

But Filipino American artist Olivia Rodrigo is changing that narrative, one therapy session at a time.

Her rhythm guitarist, Daisy Spencer, recently opened up about the singer’s powerful act of care while on the “GUTS” World Tour, which is free therapy for the entire crew.

Appearing on The StageLeft Podcast, Spencer revealed that the 22-year-old singer and her tour manager, Marty Hom, prioritized the well-being of their entire team by providing free, accessible mental health services throughout the tour.

“Olivia and our tour manager, Marty Hom, made accessible and free therapy for all of the touring personnel,” Spencer told host Chris Simpson. “I have never had anything like that,” she said. “And that reignited the importance of therapy to me because I had just kind of fallen off for so long, and then suddenly I had this free resource of incredible therapists, and I utilized the crap out of that.”

Spencer shared that the therapy benefit extended beyond just the active tour dates as it remained available even during the break between the US and international legs of the tour.

She reflected on how rare and meaningful that gesture was, describing it as one of the most thoughtful and impactful experiences she’s ever had while touring. For her, the gift of accessible therapy stood out not only for its emotional value but also for its financial relief, acknowledging how expensive mental health care can be.

The “GUTS” World Tour officially wrapped earlier this month with a show-stopping headlining performance at Glastonbury Festival, where Rodrigo surprised fans by sharing the stage with The Cure’s Robert Smith.

Describing Rodrigo as “the dreamiest boss of all time,” Spencer’s praise highlights a new kind of leadership in the music industry, one rooted in empathy, mental health awareness and genuine care for others.
