Olivia Rodrigo has condemned Cornell University over a sexual assault lawsuit filed by a former student identified as Jane Doe, expressing support for the plaintiff as allegations against seven members of the Ivy League school’s Chi Phi fraternity draw public attention.
“Shame on Cornell and on every institution that protects rapists and abusers over women,” Rodrigo wrote on her Instagram Story.
The “Vampire” singer also called for accountability for the alleged assault and the university’s reported handling of the case.

“I stand with Jane Doe,” the pop star continued. “Her bravery reverberates across the country and the crimes against her will not go unpunished. What she lived through matters, and so does the failure of those who could have intervened but chose not to. She deserves answers, consequences, and lasting change.”
The civil complaint concerns an alleged incident at a fraternity house in Ithaca, New York, in October 2024. According to the lawsuit, Jane Doe was 20 years old when fraternity members allegedly gave her alcohol and ketamine before sexually assaulting and raping her.
The complaint also alleges that members discussed the incident in a Snapchat group conversation.
In addition to naming seven fraternity members, the lawsuit accuses Cornell of mishandling the plaintiff’s allegations and failing to adequately address the incident, raising questions about the university’s response to reports of sexual violence.
According to The New York Times, Cornell expelled two fraternity members and barred a third, who had already graduated, from campus following disciplinary proceedings.
The men named in the lawsuit have denied wrongdoing. Their defense maintains that the allegations misrepresent the encounters or that the sexual activity was consensual.
