At least one person has died and another is in a stable but critical condition following a shooting at a university in Kentucky.
Officials have said the suspect is in custody after a gunman opened fire at Kentucky State University (KSU) in Frankfort.
According to the city’s assistant chief of police, Scott Tracy, the shooting happened in student accomodation on the south side of campus at around 3.35pm.
Frankfort Police Department said it responded to ‘an active aggressor’. Two students were shot.
‘At this time, there is no ongoing threat to the campus community,’ KSU said in a statement.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said on X (formerly Twitter): ‘We are aware of a reported shooting at Kentucky State University in Frankfort.
‘At this time, we are aware of some injuries. We will share more information as available.
‘Law enforcement are on scene, and a suspect has been arrested. Let’s pray for all those affected.’
