A small plane crashed on top of a mountain and several people are reportedly injured.
The plane crashed near into Mount Equinox in Vermont, just after 9.45am on Wednesday, according to the Manchester Fire Department.
Three people suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Manchester police Officer Derek Osgood told Vermont News & Media.
An emergency alert on the crash to students and parents at Burr & Burton Academy stated that the pilot and passengers were OK, according to WCAX.
Emergency responders face ‘difficult conditions’ like ice and snow in reaching the crash site, according to VT Digger.
Snowmobiles, ATVs and trucks traveled through a plowed area to around halfway up the mountain, then need to take all-terrain vehicle snowshoes to reach the crash site, reported Bennington Banner.
Helicopters hovered around the area.
Agencies that responded include the police department, Manchester Fire and Rescue, Arlington Fire and Rescue, Bennington County Sheriff’s Office, Winhall Fire and Rescue and North Shire Rescue Squad.
First responders gathered around Skyline Drive at Mount Equinox.
The public was urged to avoid Old Route 7.
