Police are working to identify the body of a woman who was pulled from a Suffolk River early this morning.
Suffolk Police said the body of a woman, believed to be in her 60s or 70s, had been recovered from the River Waveney and they were treating her death as ‘unexplained’.
Officers were called around 8am this morning when a person spotted the woman under the bridge near The Quay.
Police said in a statement: ‘Ambulance crews also attended and recovered the woman from the river, where she was confirmed to be deceased.
‘The death is currently being treated as unexplained, but there is currently no evidence to suggest it is suspicious.’

Police haven’t been able to identify the mystery woman, and are urging the public to come forward if they know anything.
‘Detectives would like to hear from anyone who may have seen a woman in the vicinity of The Quay prior to 8 am this morning,’ a spokesperson said.
The woman is described as white, in her 60s or 70s, petite and having short curly brown hair.
She was wearing a cream cardigan, blue top, white jeans, white boots and was possibly carrying a pink coat, torch and umbrella.
