Powerball jackpot rolls over to £411,000,000

The Powerball jackpot has soared to a whopping £411 million after rolling over for a 40th consecutive draw.

The extraordinary sum of money is now up for grabs in Thursday morning’s draw, just weeks after the American lottery officially launched in the UK.

The current rollover is one of the longest in Powerball history, with the record standing at 47 consecutive draw.

During that record-breaking run, one winner ended up taking home £1.3 billion ($1.817bn) in the US on Christmas Eve last year.

If a British player were to win the jackpot, it would smash the current UK lottery record, which is when an anonymous EuroMillions winner banked £195 million in 2022.

Despite there not being a billion-dollar winner for seven months, the Powerball lottery has continued to create millionaires across America.

In 2026 alone, five jackpots have already been won, with prizes ranging from $20 million to $250.8 million.

Andy Carter, who is the senior winners’ adviser at Allwyn, the operator of The National Lottery, said: ‘The UK is only weeks into its Powerball journey and already players have the chance to play for an estimated £411 million.

‘This is one of the biggest jackpots in Powerball history.

‘This kind of win isn’t just life-changing, it’s potentially generation-changing. It could help a winner support their family for decades, fulfil lifelong ambitions, champion causes they care about and leave a lasting mark on their community.’

Since Powerball launched in the UK on July 23, nearly half a million prizes have been won.

With prizes ranging from £8 to more than £70,000, 491,662 winning tickets have been paid out so far, according to Allwyn.

In the UK, Powerball tickets cost £4 per line, and players can select five numbers from 1 to 69 and one Powerball number from 1 to 26, with draws taking place three times a week from Florida.

The jackpot is paid to UK winners over 30 years rather than as a single lump sum.
