Prince William leaves staff in stitches with phone blunder during bakery visit

Prince William swapped his royal duties for hospitality earlier this week during a visit to Cornwall to celebrate the county’s St. Piran’s Day. The future king — who is the Duke of Cornwall — put in a shift at Gear Farm Pasty Company, a family-run farm and bakery that managed to stay open after Storm Goretti damaged the region. The January storm brought winds of nearly 100mph to Cornwall, causing widespread damage and leaving around 50,000 homes without power. In a video posted to X by Rebecca English, the Daily Mail’s Royal Editor, William was seen picking up the phone and taking an order. Despite the request being relatively simple — five fresh pasties and ten frozen ones — the prince made a major hiccup that cracked the rest of the team up. Following the ‘awkward’ — but equally wholesome — moment, plenty of royal fans took to the comments section to compliment the prince. ‘What a great company glad he visited. Prince William is just so lovable,’ one person penned, as another compared him to his mother, the late Princess Diana. ‘I love him. He has his mom’s sense of humor,’ they said. Elsewhere, someone else typed: ‘Absolutely LOVE Prince William’s dedication to people. No one knew at the other end of the phone that he was the one taking the order!! Prince William didn’t just enjoy a quick stint on the service desk; he also received a masterclass in pasty-making. Owners Dave and Ann Webb, alongside their children, Jemma and Michael, attempted to show William the ropes, which he seemingly admitted was harder than it looked. While spooning potatoes into the pasties, he joked: ‘Don’t worry, I can take full criticism.’ This was received sooner, rather than later, however, as William attempted to crimp a pasty. ‘Everyone loves a trier,’ the owner joked, as she tried to teach the royal the technique by hand. Following his efforts, William once again showed his humorous side, joking that his attempt resembled a ‘slightly ill crab’ rather than a pasty. ‘It’s alright, passable,’ he continued, before complimenting the experts: ‘Yours looks so perfect.’ The bakery team replied: ‘It’s really not easy, is it?
