SB19’s Josh Cullen throws first pitch at White Sox-Yankees game

CHICAGO – SB19 member Josh Cullen threw the ceremonial first pitch at Rate Field on Wednesday ahead of the Chicago White Sox’s game against the New York Yankees.

Josh represented SB19 – composed of Pablo, Stell, Ken, Justin and himself – for the special pregame ceremony. The appearance made SB19 the first Filipino group invited to throw a ceremonial first pitch at a Major League Baseball game.

Wearing a White Sox jersey, he greeted fans and delivered the ceremonial pitch before the game.

SB19 joined a distinguished list of Filipino personalities who have taken part in MLB’s longstanding tradition, including boxing legend Manny Pacquiao, actress Liza Soberano and comedian Jo Koy.

The MLB appearance comes amid a busy week for the group. On Tuesday, SB19 performed and participated in a special conversation at the Grammy Museum’s Global Spin Live in Los Angeles, where they discussed their music and career with fans.

On July 30 – in another historic first – SB19 will become the first homegrown Filipino act to perform at Lollapalooza Chicago, one of the world’s largest music festivals.

The group is expected to perform songs from its latest album, “Wakas at Simula,” as it continues to expand its global reach.

Debuting in 2018, SB19 has become one of the Philippines’ most successful music acts, earning more than a billion career streams and international recognition through hits such as “Bazinga” and “GENTO.”

The quintet has also become the first Filipino and Southeast Asian act to receive a nomination at the Billboard Music Awards, helping bring P-pop to a global audience.
