Scammer impersonates police chief in Bitcoin money scam – Claremont Courier
A Claremont resident received a call on July 14 at around 4:45 p.m. from someone posing as a federal agent.
The scammer told the victim that his social security number had been compromised and, in order to clear the victim’s name, the impostor told the victim to withdraw money from his savings account, convert the money into Bitcoin and then transfer the funds to another account.
