Selena Gomez fans scrolling through Instagram this week may have done a double-take after noticing that the singer’s Stories appeared unusually exclusive.
Typically, Instagram users can only view Close Friends Stories, identified by a green ring, if they’ve been added to a curated list. But this time, the singer’s 415 million followers were greeted with something new: Instagram’s experimental “Secret Friends” feature, identified by a yellow ring.
At first glance, the update looked like a VIP-only drop. However, unlike the traditional Close Friends setting that restricts access, Gomez flipped the idea entirely by adding all 415 million of her followers to her Secret Friends list.
The rollout was tied to “Friends Keep Secrets,” the podcast hosted by her husband Benny Blanco and rapper-comedian Lil Dicky. Gomez joined the show for behind-the-scenes moments and candid conversations, using the yellow-ring Stories to promote the podcast’s latest episode and give fans a closer look at what went on off-camera.
Beyond the tech-savvy stunt, Gomez also opened up about her personal life during the podcast appearance on the same day. She shared that she hopes to have four children with Blanco one day, citing a memorable dinner scene from the movie, “The Family Stone,“ as one of the reasons she dreams of a big family.
She shared that she hopes to have four children, admitting, “I want four, but that’s out there.” Gomez said she “can’t get it out of [her] head,” as she went on to fondly remember the particular scene that continues to shape her vision of family life.
