Storming into cinemas worldwide, “Stray Kids: The dominATE Experience” made history by becoming the first K-pop concert film to reach No. 1 at the global box office.

The film emerged as the top theatrical release in the global marketplace over the weekend, earning more than $19 million combined and surpassing all other films in circulation during the same period.

Internationally, the release opened in 61 Universal Pictures International markets, screening in 4,751 locations across 5,257 screens and bringing in $14.03 million. In the United States, the film debuted in 1,724 locations and grossed approximately $5.7 million.

More than a straightforward concert recording, the production blends full-scale live performances with behind-the-scenes glimpses, offering viewers both the spectacle of Stray Kids’ stage presence and a more intimate look at the dedication and emotion that fuel their global phenomenon. The film was conceived as both a celebration of live performance and a deeper exploration of the artistry behind it.

Industry executives involved in the release pointed to the film’s early success as a sign of the expanding reach of music storytelling in theaters.

“We at Bleecker are ecstatic that our first Crosswalk release is dominating at both the US and global box office. The film worked in all formats as fans flocked to theaters to experience their favorite band in concert and we look forward to continuing its success in lockstep with our partners at Live Nation Studios and Universal,” said Bleecker Street CEO Kent Sanderson.

Ryan Kroft, Head of Film & Television at Live Nation Studios, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing how concert films are redefining the viewing experience.
