Student missing for two weeks seen running down road before he vanished

A student who vanished 11 days ago has been spotted running down a street in CCTV footage taken the night he went missing.

Robotics student Aryan Sharma, 20, was last seen in the early hours of November 23 on the outskirts of Loughborough, Leicestershire, at around 12.30 am.

He left his accommodation at around 9.30 pm and was last spotted walking towards Stanford-on-the-Soar before he disappeared.

His family have said they ‘just want to find him safe’, as police released footage of Aryan jogging along the road.

The family previously made a direct appeal to the public in a bid to help locate the missing student.

Aryan’s cousin Jagi Sawhney said, ‘We are devastated as a family. We just want to find him safe. He’s loved by this family. He is an older brother, he’s a cousin, he’s one of the five boys of this family.’

He added: ‘Our biggest concern now is that no one in the family has spoken to him since at least Friday. It’s been really cold since he has been missing, and we haven’t been able to get in contact with him. We just want him to be okay, and we want him to come home to his mum.

‘If Aryan sees this, we want him to know how loved he is. We want him to know how much we all just want him to come home. He is a loved grandson, son and uncle. Everyone is rallying around to try and find him.’

Detectives are appealing for anybody who may have information on his whereabouts to get in touch as soon as possible.

Detective Inspector Jonathan Dickens said: ‘Did you see a man matching Aryan’s description wearing a long black trench coat walking along the road in the early hours?

‘Did you see or capture anything that could assist us in establishing exactly where he has gone next?’

The force said they had been carrying out extensive enquiries to establish Aryan’s movements that night.

But they are still keen to hear from any motorists or pedestrians who may have seen him walking along Meadow Lane, Stanford Lane or the surrounding area between 12.15 am and 2 am on Saturday morning.

Trained search officers, drones, police dogs and divers, and the National Police Air Service and specialist volunteers from Leicestershire Search and Rescue are searching for him.

Aryan is described as Asian, 5ft 5ins tall, of a slim build with collar-length black hair. He was last seen wearing a black trench coat, shorts and black trainers with a white trim.
