A shooting in a lakeside park in the US that left 18 people injured was allegedly sparked by teenagers arguing with each other.
Dozens of people had gathered for the ‘Sunday Funday’ at Arcadia Lake, near Oklahoma City when shooting started.
Around 18 people were injured in the incident, with three left critically hurt, although it remains unclear how many were wounded from gunshots.
However, the authorities have been tight-lipped about what exactly happened on the lakeside at the weekend, with the hunt for the suspects ongoing.
Now more information is emerging from partygoers who were in the public park near Arcadia Lake, a swimming and boating spot in Edmond.
Jeremiah Braxton, 18, was one of the around 250 people who had arrived at the lake.
He claimed that the mayhem broke out when a group of girls began arguing over boys.
‘It just started a whole bunch of chaos,’ he told AP news agency.
‘Everybody got scared, dudes was panicking, women was panicking, people seeing their friends fight.’
Footage shared on social media from the party shows young people dancing and having fun at Arcadia Lake at the Scissortail Campground before the shooting.
A fight appears to be breaking out in a short clip involving some women, while others dance or hang out calmly on the sidelines.
Edmond police said the party had been promoted on social media, and attracted a large crowd from the Oklahoma City area.
The mayor Mark Nash said the incident happened in a public park designed for large gatherings, but there was no official reservation through the parks department for an event that evening.
He said: ‘We’re already taking steps to review and strengthen park operations, permitting processes and security measures.’
