Taylor Swift may be one of the biggest performers in the world, but when it comes to football season, she’s happily playing the role of supportive fiancé from the sidelines.
During her appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” the pop superstar cleared up rumors that she turned down the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show because of rights issues.
“No, no,” Swift said with a laugh. “Here’s the thing. Jay-Z has always been really good to me. Our teams are really close.”
Instead, she explained that her heart (and attention) are fully tied to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and his action-packed season.
‘Locked in’ on Kelce
“The whole season, I am locked in on what [Kelce] is doing on the field,” Swift shared. “Can you imagine if he’s out there every single week putting his life on the line doing this very dangerous, very high-pressure, high-intensity sport, and I’m like, ‘I wonder what my choreo should be?’”
Swift described football as “violent chess” and “gladiators without swords,” saying that watching Kelce play has given her a new perspective on commitment and focus.
Though Kelce is fully supportive of her performing at the Super Bowl, Swift admitted she’s simply too devoted to the game right now.
“We’re always able to tell him the truth, which is that I am in love with a guy who does that sport on that field,” she added.
Busy breaking records
While her halftime debut may not happen anytime soon, Swift’s music career is thriving stronger than ever. Her latest album “The Life of a Showgirl,” released on Oct. 3, shattered records by selling 2.7 million copies in the US within 24 hours, according to Luminate.
The 12-track project, produced by Max Martin and Shellback, marks the biggest week of her career, with 1.2 million vinyls sold, surpassing her own record from “The Tortured Poets Department.”
