For Grammy-award winning singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, re-recording her albums was about rediscovering the heart of her music. And when it came to “Red,” the 2012 album known for its emotional depth and genre-blending ambition, the process left her feeling unexpectedly moved.
In her appearance on Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast, Swift revealed that revisiting “Red” during her re-recording project transformed the way she felt about it.

“Re-recording it made me be like, ‘God I love that album,’” she admitted. “Red was very special.”
Swift explained that she has always felt a deep and straightforward love for “Fearless” and “1989,” calling that affection “pure.” But “Red” was different. Over the years, she found herself going back and forth on her feelings toward the record, until the re-recording process made her fall for it all over again.
Part of that renewed connection came from working on the Vault tracks, songs that didn’t make the original release.

One in particular holds an enduring place in her heart: “All Too Well (10 Minute Version),” which she described as “maybe my favorite song I’ve ever written.”
The extended ballad became a cultural moment of its own when “Red (Taylor’s Version)” dropped in 2021, sparking viral trends, fan tears and critical acclaim.
Swift began her ambitious re-recording project six years ago after losing ownership of her master recordings. The journey has since produced revamped editions of “Fearless,” “Speak Now,” “Red” and “1989,” each offering not only fresh production but also an emotional reclaiming of her artistic history.
But Swift isn’t looking only to the past. During the same podcast appearance, she revealed her newest album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” set for release on Oct. 3.
The record will be her first full-length since reclaiming her masters three months ago, marking a new chapter in her career.
