The legal dispute between Blake Lively and actor-director Justin Baldoni gained renewed attention following the unsealing of court documents that involve pop superstar Taylor Swift.
The filings, made public recently and submitted to the US District Court in Manhattan, include private text messages that offer insight into both Lively’s allegations and her personal relationships during a turbulent period.
Lively has accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and of leading a coordinated effort to damage her reputation.
According to the newly unsealed documents obtained by media outlets, Lively began voicing concerns about her experience on the set of their 2024 film as early as spring 2023. These concerns were allegedly shared with friends in real time, well before the legal case became public.
Among the messages included in the filings are texts exchanged between Lively and Swift, who have been close friends for years. While the messages do not name either party directly, other court documents identify them as part of the exchange.
In one text, Lively expressed guilt over how consumed she had been by her struggles, writing, “I felt like a bad friend lately because I was such a sad sack who only talked about my own s— for months.” She also acknowledged Swift’s support and said her husband, Ryan Reynolds, encouraged her to check in directly about their friendship.
Swift responded, reassuring Lively that she was not entirely wrong but explaining that she had felt some emotional distance. She noted that she was exhausted and had sensed a change in how Lively communicated with her.
Other messages cited in the filings further illustrate the pair’s openness. In April 2023, Lively allegedly referred to Swift as “the world’s absolute greatest friend ever.”
In December 2024, Swift allegedly sent a message calling Baldoni a “bitch” while reacting to a People Magazine Instagram post highlighting his past remarks about being “sexually traumatized.”
Swift also reportedly described the situation as “a horror film no one knows is taking place.”
The case is currently scheduled to go to trial in May 2026.
