Teacher banned after telling pupil he would have sex with her when she turned 18

A teacher was caught on secret recordings complimenting a pupil’s ‘nice arse’ and telling her ‘you’re one horny girl’.

Amrinder Singh Pannu, 38, head of science at St Mark’s School in south London has been banned from teaching after engaging in inappropriate behavior with the student, referred to as Pupil A.

In secret voice notes made by Pupil A during a free period, he is alleged to have told her ‘you’re one horny girl man; f***’, and ‘you’re not teasing me I know you want it’.

In the conversation, Pupil A said to Pannu ‘I don’t have a big arse’, to which Pannu is heard responding, ‘No, but it’s a nice arse’.

Pupil A said words to the effect of ‘so when I turn 18 you’ll have sex with me right? to which Pannu responded ‘a few months then later yeah’.

Pannu was also recorded saying ‘if you were in a different school then it would have been a different story’.

Three members of staff received an anonymous whistleblowing email with the voice recordings of the conversation. Pannu was suspended and the school sparked an investigation.

Under questioning, Pupil A stated that at first, she and Pannu would talk about regular things, like travelling and university.

She told investigators that Pannu knew the way they were interacting was wrong and would tell her that she could not tell anyone because his life would be ruined.

Pupil A only chose to record the conversation because she had spoken to one of her friends about the situation, and they didn’t believe her.

In his defense, Pannu told a Teaching Regulatory Agency panel that he was concerned about Pupil A’s behavior but dismissed it as ‘being akin to a crush or pushing boundaries’.

He insisted there was no physical contact between them of any form and throughout the conversation they were on either side of a desk.

He is now permanently banned from teaching, after the panel recommended a prohibition order with no opportunity for review.

A spokesperson for Anthem Schools Trust, which manages St Mark’s school, said: ‘The teacher in question was suspended and dismissed seven years ago as soon as this incident came to light.

‘This is a case from 2018 which occurred under historic leadership and no current student at the school was taught by the individual concerned.

‘St Mark’s is committed to the wellbeing and success of all its students and this is why the school has been rated by Ofsted as ‘Outstanding’ in all areas, following its recent inspection in 2024.’
