Teen dies 14 years after being ‘attacked’ as baby with dad facing murder trial

A man has been charged with murdering his son – who died 14 years after suffering severe head injuries as a baby.

Lejunae Wood, 42, of Wuppertal, Germany, was arrested on Thursday at Heathrow Airport and charged on Friday with the murder of Leajunne Wood.

Leajunne was just four months old when he suffered life-changing injuries during an incident at home in Hayes, west London, in December 2007.

He died aged 14 on December 6, 2021.

Pathologist reports from 2023 revealed Leajunne died following complications from a severe head injury, the Met Police said.

Wood appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and spoke to confirm his identity.

Cathryn Evans, prosecuting, said the defendant is accused of the murder of his own child.

He will next appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday.
