Rush-hour rains across the UK are delayed and cancelled amid ‘nationwide fault’ affecting National Rail.
To blame is an issue with an onboard radio system used by train drivers and signal operators called GSMR.
Gatwick Express, Great Northern, Southern, Thameslink, Southeastern, South Western Railway and Scotrail trains have all been hit by delays, cancellations and tweaked timetables. Routes to Heathrow Airport via the Elizabeth Line have
also been impacted.National Rail said: ‘Trains across the network are having to start their journeys later because of this fault and some may also be subject to cancellations or alterations.’
The morning has already been bad for commuters. Several key London Underground and Overground lines have been smacked by a double-whammy of closures and delays.
