US President Donald Trump ambushed his South African counterpart with false claims of a genocide against white farmers in a tense Oval Office meeting.

Trump claimed that White Afrikaner farmers have been genocide victims and called on South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to protect them during their conversation on Wednesday.

The US president directed his staff to play a video of crosses that he said were the grave sites of more than 1,000 murdered Afrikaners.

‘This is very bad. These are burial sites right here… over a thousand of white farmers and those cars are lined up to pay love on Sunday morning, each one of those white things you see are a cross,’ said Trump.

‘There’s approximately a thousand of them, they’re all white farmers.’

In reality, the mounds were part of a protest against the violence and not their graves.

Ramaphosa replied: ‘I’d like to know where that is, because this I’ve never seen.’
