Donald Trump has welcomed countless guests and world leaders to the Oval Office.
The famous room has been the setting for numerous press conferences and is where the president welcomes his foreign counterparts.
Earlier this year it hosted Trump’s fiery showdown with Volodymyr Zelensky.
But since returning to the White House, Trump has stamped his mark on the oval-shaped room.
Presidents are allowed to restyle the Oval Office and add touches to their taste, but the former Apprentice host has taken the grandeur to a whole new level with gold finishes and even a replica World Cup trophy.
While Biden’s office was comparatively bland with white walls and far less ornaments, Trump has wasted no time installing gold decorations and trebling the number of paintings on the walls.
Now remodelled to represent Trump’s lavish taste, the room is naturally crammed with his memorabilia, including family pictures and reminders of his flagship policies.
And alongside his Oval Office revamp, Trump has expressed interest in building a new ballroom at the White House and tiling over the lawn in the rose garden which he has said ‘just doesn’t work’.
Gold everywhere
Trump’s love for gold furnishings is no secret and he has quickly embellished every part of the Oval Office with his favourite color.
A gold trim now runs around the oval ceiling to match the room’s famous curtains.
Since March he has added even more flourishes, with gold plated ornaments on the walls and around the fireplace and at least nine gold figurines and models on the mantel.
The chairs occupied by world leaders during press conferences have also been redecorated with a gold pattern.
According to CNN, there are even Rococo mirrors on the doors and gold eagles on the side tables.
To top if off, Trump has even brought in gold cherubs from his estate in Mar-a-Lago.
And as if that wasn’t enough, there’s a replica of the new gold Club World Cup trophy, gifted by Fifa ‘in recognition of the 2025 tournament’s exceptional hosts’.
During a visit by newly elected Canadian prime minister in May, Trump remarked that his gold additions helped make his office ‘more beautiful with love’.
He told reporters: ‘You see the new and improved Oval Office as it becomes more and more beautiful with love, handle it with great love, and 24 karat gold. That always helps too.’
The rug
One of the most recognisable features of the Oval Office is its ubiquitous rug – and it has been through a plethora of color changes in its time.
Throughout Biden’s tenure it was dark blue with a large presidential seal stamped in the center.
Trump, however, has switched it back to the cream floor favoured by Ronald Reegan.
The same pattern Trump used in his first term, it features sunbeams and olive branches, a symbol of peace.
Pictures galore
One noticeable difference in the Trump oval office is how busy the walls have become.
In fact the president has trebled the number of pictures in the Oval Office, with no fewer than 16 portraits, clocks and other fittings hanging on the space above the fireplace.
The faces have naturally changed as well, with Biden’s portrait of Democrat Franklin D Roosevelt switched for a large painting of George Washington.
There’s even a map showing the body of water that Trump has dubbed the ‘Gulf of America’.
The president’s insistence on renaming the Gulf of Mexico saw him ban Associated Press journalists from Oval Office media briefings for failing to bow to his demands.
Flags
Trump’s brand as an ‘America First’ president is nowhere more visible than in his office.
While Biden had just two flags in the Oval Office, Trump has added another four.
They include two star spangled banners, and flags for each branch of the American military.
The Diet Coke button
Removed during the Biden era, Trump has restored the ‘Diet Coke button’ from his first term which, when pressed, summons a valet with the sugar-free version of the soft drink on asilver platter.
The button is housed in a small wooden box adorned with the presidential seal.
At times the president has even joked about it being the nuclear button.
Back in 2017, in response to the then escalating feud between him and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, Trump boasted that his button ‘was bigger and actually works’.
Trump touches
As well as the elaborate redesign, Trump has added several of his own personal touches.
In the center of the coffee table now sits a model of the new Air Force One Boeing 747, the real life version which has been gifted from Qatar as a ‘presidential palace in the sky’.
Next to his aircraft is a gold coaster bearing Trump’s name in capital letters.
The president has also added photos of his family, including a picture of him with his father Fred.
