Donald Trump has left people confused by showing off a bizarre chart of a giant reflective pool nearly one and a half times the length of the Empire State.

Speaking from the Oval Office, the president outlined renovation plans for the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool on the National Mall in Washington, DC.

‘I just had this done,’ he said, seemingly struggling to hold up the chart titled: ‘Our Pool is Bigger than Skyscrapers’.

Trump appeared to stumble on his words as he added: ‘That’s your size compared… […] those are among the tallest buildings in the world, including the Empire State Building, World Trade Center, Sears Tower, Chicago,’

he said.

Of these, only the World Trade Center cracks the top 10 tallest buildings in the world.

He continued: ‘So if you lay it on its side you’d take two or three of them to fill it in, because width is very… almost 200ft wide.

‘And actually [the pool is] much more than 2,000[ft], close to, including everything, it’s about 2,500ft in length to the end.

‘You’re going to be very proud of it, it’ll last for 50 to 100 years before you have to do anything. Very strong, powerful substance that we use.

‘And we picked a color called “American flag blue”; we had color choices and before it was just grey, it was the color of concrete and stone. So it’s going to be really special.’

Constructed in 1922 and 1923, it has been a tourist draw for more than 100 years – so the impressively-sized pool isn’t new.

But the ‘American flag blue’ hue will be – if Trump gets his way. A historic preservation group filed a lawsuit in May claiming the vibrant color violates the National Historic Preservation Act.

The lawsuit reads: ‘The dark grey, achromatic basin was not incidental to the design. It was the design.’

Trump marked the 500th day of his second term recently with the news that his approval rating had slumped to -25pts.

This makes him the most unpopular president since YouGov began polling on the subject back in 2009.

Just 35% of Americans currently approve of Trump’s performance in the job, while an intimidating 60% actively disapprove of it.
