Donald Trump has opened up about his ‘wonderful’ music taste as he shared his playlist with reporters.
The president spoke to the press on Air Force One about the playlist he had created for the flight and wanted to make sure everyone was happy with the music.
As his trip to Ireland came to an end, Trump himself apparently picked out the music to play on the journey back to Washington DC.
He walked back to the press area of the plane and told the group: ‘I just wanted to make sure everyone’s okay with the music. The music’s great, right?
‘I want to make you happy, so I’m playing wonderful music, happy music.’
A list of songs played by the President included Jolene by Dolly Parton; You Don’t Own Me by Leslie Gore; and the WWE Undertaker Entrance.
Trump added: ‘Dolly was the greatest, wasn’t she? That was a sad moment when Dolly left us. We have a lot of Dolly songs on there.
‘I love good music, that’s what keeps me happy.’
One reporter went on to ask Trump’s thoughts about reports that China provided Iran with satellite images of aircraft in the Middle East.
But after answering, he added: ‘I just wanted to know how you liked the music. Every song that you hear, they’re all good. We like Elton, we like Dolly, we like them all.’
The president’s playlist also included Wild World by Cat Stevens; Losing My Religion by REM; Teenage Wasteland by the Who; Nessun Dorma by Pavarotti; Fernando by ABBA; and November Rain by Guns N’ Roses.
Sinéad O’Connor, Metallica, Elton John, Elvis, Sinatra and the Rolling Stones also featured.
Axios previously reported that the president is nicknamed ‘DJ T’ at Mar-a-Lago, where he blasts his playlist on the resort patio.
‘After dinner, he’ll open his iPad and play the hits. Sometimes it’s so loud that people have trouble talking. He marvels at the sound quality filling the garden,’ a source told the publication.
Trump isn’t the only president to open up about his favourite music – Barack Obama famously releases a list of his yearly ‘top songs’ to the public.
The former president has a tradition of revealing what songs have been the soundtrack to his summer.
In 2022, he featured stars like Beyoncé (Break My Soul), Harry Styles (Music For A Sushi Restaurant), Nina Simone (Do I Move You?), and Bruce Springsteen (Dancing in the Dark).
Sharing the list, which also included Vibe Out by Tems, Saoko by Rosalía, Ojitos Lindos by Bad Bunny and Bomba Estereo, Barack, 60, said: ‘Every year, I get excited to share my summer playlist because I learn about so many new artists from your replies—it’s an example of how music really can bring us all together.
‘Here’s what I’ve been listening to this summer. What songs would you add?’
