A ‘nuke sniffer’ has landed in Britain from the US as Donald Trump threatens Iran with more military action.

The USAF WC-135R Constant Phoenix jet, which can detect radioactive particles in the air, landed at RAF Mildenhall in Suffolk.

It was also reportedly deployed to the Middle East days before Iran’s nuclear facilities were bombed by US forces in June.

The US President has warned ‘time was running out’ for Iran to sign a new deal to ban nuclear weapons in the country.

US warships have been deployed in the Gulf, with Trump warning a a ‘massive Armada’ led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln was heading toward the region.

Speculation is growing the US is considering striking Iran again, making last June’s raid on nuclear sites ‘look like peanuts’.

In response, Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran’s armed forces were ready ‘with their fingers on the trigger’ to ‘immediately and powerfully respond’ to any aggression.

The ‘nuke sniffer’ landed in Britain weeks before Russia invaded Ukraine, but it is unclear why it is in the UK now.

The aircraft has been tasked by the United Nations to monitor radiation levels.

A source told the Telegraph: ‘It flies all around the world. It’s not sniffing to see if there is a weapon there.

‘It’s ensuring that ground testing is not taking place, which would be in breach of test agreements.’

The government launched a bloody crackdown on nationwide protests, killing more than 6,000 people, activists have said.

The European Union is also pressuring Iran to ban nuclear weapons, threatening to proscribe the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist group.
