A primary school in Wales is closed for the day after threatening messages were made online, local police said.

Officers were sent to Dafen CP School in Llanelli and the surrounding area this morning.

In a post on Facebook, Llwynhendy, Llangennech, Dafen, and Felinfoel Police said they had ‘received information at around 2.30am that required safeguarding action to be taken’.

The decision to close the school was taken with Carmathenshire County Council, they said.
