A right-wing commentator whose social media posts often rake in more views than Fox and CNN combined has been appointed as Deputy Director of the FBI.
Dan Bongino, 50, has run for Congress three times and previously worked with the NYPD and Secret Service, but later pivoted to podcasting.
Donald Trump announced his appointment as Deputy Director of the FBI on Truth Social, hailing him as a man of ‘incredible love and passion for our Country’.
‘Fairness, Justice, Law and Order will be brought back to America,
Bongino repeatedly shared lies about the 2020 election being stolen on social media.
Normally, long-serving FBI agents are given the role of Deputy Director, which oversees day-to-day law enforcement operations. Bongino has not worked for the FBI.
He has worked as a member of the NYPD and Secret Service, having received a Master’s Degree in Psychology from CUNY and an MBA from Penn State.
Bongino has been outspoken in his political views on his show. In a recent show, he railed on the ‘left’ for destroying ‘strong, masculine men’.
He added: ‘They want your values coming from the state… they want everybody weak and compliant, and the best way to do it is to destroy our boys. It’s a disgrace.’
The new head of the FBI is Kash Patel, a former federal prosecutor and critic of the FBI.
Patel is rumoured to have a list of ‘deep state’ enemies, which he previously denied.
The names are rumoured to include Joe Biden, former Attorney General Merrick Garland and others.
Patel attended University College London in 2004, obtaining a certificate in international law.
