A woman from London has died after a collision on the M25 in Essex on Good Friday.

She was killed after three cars and an HGV crashed near junction 29 near Brentwood yesterday evening.

The road was closed in both directions for hours after the smash, which happened on the clockwise carriageway.

The emergency services rushed to the scene after reports of the multi-vehicle incident shortly before 8pm.

The 23-year-old woman, from east London, was declared dead at the scene.

Her family are being supported by specialist officers.

No other injuries were reported, the Met Police said.

A spokesperson from the force said: ‘Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance. A 23-year-old woman from east London sadly died at the scene.

‘The junction remained closed until approximately 05:00hrs on Saturday, 4 April.

‘No arrests have been made and enquiries remain ongoing.’
