A woman has died at a techno music festival in Norfolk after being found unconscious inside a tent.

Police were called to Houghton Festival at around 6.10pm on Sunday on what was the final day of the event.

Despite the efforts of the festival’s on-site medical team, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The annual festival is held across the 1,000-acre grounds of Houghton Hall and attracts roughly 10,000 people.

A Houghton Festival spokesperson said: ‘We are deeply saddened to confirm that a person has passed away at Houghton 2026.

‘We continue to work closely with the relevant authorities to support in any way we can with their investigations.’

Norfolk Police said the woman’s death is being treated as unexplained at the moment, but it is not believed to be suspicious.

A spokesperson said: ‘The death is currently being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious. Our enquiries are ongoing.

‘Her next of kin have been informed.’

Beginning last Thursday, revellers gathered for several days of electronic music across the estate.

Founded in 2017 by DJ Craig Richards, who was one of the founders of London nightclub Fabric, the festival is known for playing music 24 hours straight across its multiple different stages.

The event has attracted high-profile visitors in previous years, with Kate Middleton reported to have attended in 2023 where she is said to have left staff a £700 tip.
