A woman in her 20s has been found dead at a home in Surrey.

Police called out to the property on Woodthorpe Road in Ashford yesterday following a report of concern for the safety of those inside also found a two-year-old girl ‘with very serious injuries’.

They have arrested a man in his 30s, said to be known to the two victims, on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

Detectives said there is not believed to be any wider risk to the community.

DCI Kimball Edey said: ‘This investigation is in its early stages and a team of specialist officers are working around the clock to gather as much information as possible.

‘Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victims at this unbelievably difficult time.’
