A very lucky ticket holder has just won the National Lottery jackpot and become an instant multimillionaire.
Try not to be too jealous, but a single player has just got £7.3 million.
The catch is that they haven’t yet claimed it, so it is still technically possible that it could be you, if you haven’t checked your app or your ticket yet.
If so, you’d be joining a club of newly minted Lotto millionires that includes Richard and Debbie Nuttall from Colne in Lancashire.
They scooped a staggering fortune in February,
But instead of realising it immediately, they thought they’d won £2.60 and Debbie joked: ‘Woohoo, we’ll go and have a bacon butty or something with that.’
Accountant Richard said it was only later that they saw the app had updated to say they’d actually won over 1.5 million times the UK’s average fulltime salary.
He tried to call the National Lottery from Fuerteventura but a bad signal in the Canary Island meant four calls kept cutting out.
‘I’m thinking, “this is a scam, someone’s trying to extract information out of me inch by inch,”‘ he said.
He said: ‘Obviously we were stunned but also very excited at the time, it was almost like Del Boy and Rodney when they come out of Sotheby’s and they start cheering and punching the air, the car was rocking.’
The winning numbers in Saturday night’s draw were 10, 26, 33, 53, 57, 59, and the bonus number was 18.
Andy Carter, senior winners’ adviser, said: ”What a way to start the month for this lucky Lotto player.
‘Players are urged to check their tickets and to give us a call if they think they are tonight’s lucky winner.’
While someone picked very well for the biggest prize, there wasn’t as much luck for the runners up.
Nobody matched five out of six main numbers. The bonus to win £1 million, the Lotto HotPicks jackpot, and the £500,000 Thunderball jackpot were also missed.
For lottery geeks, set of balls 5 and draw machine Guinevere were used.
Following Saturday’s win, Wednesday’s Lotto jackpot will be around £2 million.
In other lottery news, one lucky person has just three weeks to claim a huge £3.6 million prize.
And in the US, someone’s won $349 million – but has no idea.
