The White House is getting an overhaul as Donald Trump builds his controversial ballroom, erects a UFC ring, and primps other parts of the building ahead of America’s 250th anniversary.
New aerial photos show the sheer scale of construction at the People’s House.
Massive cranes have been brought in to install lighting and arches for a UFC fighting ring to celebrate Trump’s birthday as well as this year’s landmark Independence Day.
The former East Wing has largely been reduced to rubble too, as Trump makes way for his cherished ballroom.
And Americans aren’t happy.
‘This is what Donald Trump has done to the People’s House. It’s a busted a** trash palace,’ one wrote.
Another added: ‘UFC fights on the White House lawn are a desecration of the White House, America, our history, and the dignity of the office of the presidency.’
Some suggested previous presidents, such as Barack Obama and Joe Biden, may have been impeached if they had tried to do a similar thing.
Senator Adam Schiff wrote: ‘Trump is building a golden ballroom and for his birthday party — arranging a UFC fight on the White House grounds — while you’re fighting to pay this month’s bills. Could he be more out of touch?’
The White House has continued to defend the massive projects, with spokesman Davis Ingle telling Newsweek: ‘Dumocrats are opposed to anything that celebrates the greatness of our country because they are America Last losers.
‘This will be one of the greatest and most historic sports events in history, and President Trump hosting it at the White House is a testament to his vision to celebrate America’s monumental 250th anniversary.’
Trump also hopes to build a 250ft arc – one foot for each year of the US’ existence – in the style of the famous Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
The so-called ‘Independence Arch’ has already been nicknamed the ‘Arc de Trump’.
He shared renderings of what the structure might look like on Truth Social, showing it would be around half the size of the towering Washington Monument, which is 555ft tall.
‘The Arch is going to be one of the most iconic landmarks not only in Washington, D.C., but throughout the world,’ White House spokesman Davis Ingle told CNN.
There are also hopes to transform the historic National Mall into a race track, passing the Supreme Court and the Lincoln Memorial.
