The promotion for Melania Trump’s multi-million dollar Amazon Prime documentary isn’t going particularly well in Los Angeles.
The documentary, which looks into her role in the 2024 election cycle, is being released in the US, and despite Amazon paying $40,000,000 to produce it, it seems Americans aren’t fans.
Billboards and posters across Los Angeles have been defaced with Hitler moustaches and, in a larger campaign, graffiti of her appearing to defecate on the American flag.
A spokesperson for the LA Metro said the widespread vandalism is ‘extensive and severe’.
The imagery of the First Lady taking a dump on the American flag was spearheaded by art group Indecline.
A spokesperson for the group told Rolling Stone: ”We’re calling it ‘Melania Gives a Shit About America?’
‘We have a 25-year history of climbing up on advertisements all over the country and doctoring them up in a number of ways, [because] we really do give a shit about this place.
‘Melania being an immigrant herself, and ironically, being married to the one who’s overseeing the kidnapping of immigrants and also the executions of U.S. citizens.’
The group added that if there was a documentary about Melania’s experience as an immigrant in the US, they’d like to see it.
The director of the film is also facing backlash, after newly released Jeffrey Epstein files caught him cuddling up with two girls and photographed with Epstein himself.
Brett Ratner, in addition to directing Melania, directed the Rush Hour films and X-Men: The Last Stand. A spokesperson for him hasn’t commented on the newly released photos.
The vandalism comes as the US is facing a moment of reckoning, with widespread protests and police encounters as Americans protest against Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in cities.
Yesterday, it was revealed that a Mexican immigrant suffered fractures to his head and face while in federal custody in Minneapolis.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents initially said Alberto Castañeda Mondragón, 31, ‘purposefully ran headfirst into a brick wall’ while trying to flee, court files show.
But medics at Hennepin County Medical Center say such action could not possibly account for the extent of the fractures and bleeding throughout his brain.
One nurse said: ‘It’s laughable, if there was something to laugh about. There was no way this person ran headfirst into a wall.’
Castañeda Mondragón’s legal team say he entered the US in 2022 with valid immigration documents.
Minnesota incorporation filings show he founded a company called Castaneda Construction the following year with an address listed in St. Paul.
He appears to have no criminal record.
His lawyers told a court that Castañeda Mondragón was racially profiled during the crackdown, and that officers determined only after his arrest that he had overstayed his visa.
In a petition seeking his release from ICE custody, they wrote: ‘He was a brown-skinned, Latino Spanish speaker at a location immigration agents arbitrarily decided to target.’
