Londoners have been caught up in travel misery across the Tube and Elizabeth line today.

Commuter journeys were marred by severe delays on the London Underground this morning after a slate of issues.

The culprit for the most serious delays is a broken drain.

It caved in at Baker Street, forcing trains to ground to a halt in central London.

The Hammersmith and City line is suspended in both directions between Euston Square and Edgware Road, while severe delays are felt on the entire line.

The Metropolitan line is partially closed between Baker Street and Aldgate due to the drain incident, causing severe delays on the entire route.

Meanwhile, the Central line is seeing minor delays throughout between Epping and Leytonstone, Hainault and Leytonstone, North Acton and West Ruislip, and North Acton and Ealing Broadway.

Passengers on the Elizabeth line have been warned of severe delays between Abbey Wood and Heathrow Airport and Reading due to late finish of works.

It comes after the route was hit by vandalism and a fire over the weekend, affecting the Elizabeth line, Great Western Railway and Heathrow Express services.

Elizabeth line has a reduced timetable in place until further notice because of the vandalism, and train times and frequencies could vary, TfL said in an email sent to customers yesterday.

Metro approached Transport for London for a comment.
