Donald Trump’s joke about his two adult sons during a library inauguration left the audience gobsmacked.
The US president made the bizarre remark on Wednesday afternoon during a Congressional Medal of Honour ceremony in North Dakota ahead of the 4th of July celebrations.
The crowds at the new Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library laughed awkwardly as Trump’s joke failed to land.
The POTUS, donning a white USA cap, said: ‘As I see my two beautiful sons sitting there, I think I’m going to give one to myself and one to them.
‘We’ll have a threesome.
‘I’ll pick out one of the two. I’ll give them the Congressional medal of honour for something…for their genius at hunting.
‘And I’ll get one for taking on Russia, Russia, Russia.’
He suggested it was ‘dangerous’ to joke because of the ‘fake news is up there.’
‘When I joke…I learned earlier, don’t be sarcastic in politics,’ he added.
Trump has been embroiled in the Iran war for months, a conflict he started with Israel in February.
Iran and the US have made headway to bring the hostilities to an end, with a memorandum of understanding having been signed in Switzerland last month.
For his 80th birthday, Trump hosted a UFC fight at the White House, which has left many Americans concerned over the capital’s MAGA transformation.
Trump has been pushing ahead with the construction of a new golden ballroom to replace the demolished East Wing.
Meanwhile, work is underway to construct a huge arch on the White House front lawn in time for Independence Day, which has been nicknamed the ‘Arc de Trump.’
