A former MAGA ally has said Republicans are supporting Donald Trump out of fear in a damning 60 Minutes interview.

Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has announced she’s leaving her position in January after receiving hundreds of death threats and being labelled as a ‘traitor’ for speaking out against the President.

The catalyst seems to be the Jeffrey Epstein files – an issue which Trump campaigned on, promising to release them in full, before flipping and calling the matter ‘pretty boring stuff’ in July.

‘All of the death threats came from the ‘left’ until I stood with the Epstein Survivors, women who were raped as teenagers, abused, and trafficked by rich, powerful men,’ she revealed in a post on X.

‘And that’s when President Trump turned on me and called me a ‘traitor’ and then new death threats and harassments came from the ‘right’ or somewhere else. I sent these assassination threats against my son to President Trump, in which he responded with harsh accusatory replies and zero sympathy.’

During her interview with 60 Minutes, Greene went one step further, suggesting that her colleagues stopped questioning Trump after his 2024 win out of fear.

‘I think they’re terrified to step out of line and get a nasty Truth Social post on them,’ she said.

‘I watched many of my colleagues go from making fun of him, making fun of how he talks, making fun of me constantly for supporting him, to when he won the primary in 2024, they all started – excuse my language – kissing his ass.’

Trump took to Truth Social after the interview aired, claiming that Greene turned against him because she was ‘jilted’ by him.

‘Too much work, not enough time, and her ideas are, NOW, really BAD – She sort of reminds me of a Rotten Apple! Marjorie is not AMERICA FIRST or MAGA, because nobody could have changed her views so fast, and her new views are those of a very dumb person,’ he rambled.

Greene has been known for her outspoken nature ever since first taking up her position in 2020. At that time, Trump often praised her.

But after expressing support for Epstein’s survivors and pushing for the full release of the files, she turned further away from Trump.

‘This time by the President of the United States. As a woman, I take threats from men seriously. I now have a small understanding of the fear and pressure the women, who are victims of Jeffrey Epstein and his cabal, must feel.’

When confronted about Greene’s statement on X, Trump told reporters: ‘Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Greene. I don’t think her life is in danger. I don’t think. Frankly, I don’t think anybody cares about her.’

Greene isn’t the only Republican who’s expressed frustration with Trump.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, Nancy Mace and Ted Cruz are three Republicans who have taken a stance against the leader.

Mace and Greene joined every Democrat to sign a petition which pushed the Epstein files bill through to get approved.

In September, the number of Trump voters who believed the USA was not on the right track jumped from 17% to 22%.

The Epstein drama, Charlie Kirk’s murder, tariffs, and a press conference claiming paracetamol was linked to autism in children appear to have sown seeds of doubt in Trump’s followers in recent months.
