The third annual FilAm Creative Film Festival (FACFF) took place Sept. 25-28 at The Luckman Fine Arts Complex in California State University, Los Angeles.
The festival, presented by nonprofit organization FilAm Creative, is a platform for filmmakers from the Filipino American community.

Cal State LA
The 2025 FACFF was hosted by Cal State LA for the second year in a row, a point of pride for the university, according to Cal State News Service.
“Cal State LA is the only university in the country where students gain hands-on experience planning and producing an industry-level film festival,” said the university’s events manager Will Baker. “Hosting FilAm on our campus shows our students how transformative festivals can be—not only for filmmakers, but for the audiences and communities they touch.”
Films selected
FACFF had 24 official selections represented by narrative features, documentaries, short films and music videos. The films explore fruit, deteriorating health, augmented reality and much more.

The event also held special screenings of older titles, like “The Flip Side” (2001) by Rod Pulido, the first (and to date, only) Filipino American film to premiere at Sundance Film Festival, and “Matt Shepard Is a Friend of Mine” (2014), a documentary directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Michele Josue.
Other FACFF fixtures
Other fixtures of the festival included the FilAm Creators Competition, a challenge that gives participants three weeks to create a 5- to 7-minute short film, incorporating a particular theme, prop and line of dialogue.
The festival also featured panels with filmmaker discussions and networking opportunities for attendees to learn about production, music, editing and storytelling.
The event culminated in the Awards Gala, honoring the event’s best in filmmaking as deemed by a panel of industry professionals.
