“Over the moon with excitement and Pinoy pride to share Forgotten Island with the world! Nakakaproud maging pinoy. Thank you, [DreamWorks], [Joel Crawford] and [Januel Mercado] for putting our stories out there,” she wrote.
Crawford, the writer-director, also posted with the caption, “Jo…Dolly…Ronny…Amielynn! Welcome to the family! So excited to have you join the cast of [Forgotten Island.]”
Meanwhile, Chieng kept things simple but celebratory, sharing the announcement with the caption, “I’m in this.”
The newly announced cast members join an already star-studded roster. The current cast includes Grammy-winning artist H.E.R., Filipino American actress Liza Soberano, Broadway icon Lea Salonga and actors Dave Franco, Manny Jacinto and Jenny Slate.
Adding another layer of Filipino talent behind the scenes, Fil-Am composer Nathan Matthew David will be scoring the film.
Described as an action-adventure animated comedy, “Forgotten Island” is set to take audiences on a journey to a magical, long-lost land inspired by Philippine mythology. Positioned as a “broad party comedy adventure,” the film blends humor with elements of folklore.
The film is slated to hit theaters on Sept. 26, with its first trailer expected to drop next week.
