In the world of K-pop, the bond between fans and idols often runs deep. Supporters spend years following their favorite groups. They religiously stream music, attend concerts and celebrate milestones together.

With that emotional investment, news of a member leaving can feel particularly heartbreaking.

Recently, the spotlight turned to Enhypen, after reports surfaced that member Heeseung had parted ways with the group to pursue his own musical direction. The announcement was made through the group’s Weverse platform by their agency Belift Lab.

In its statement, the company explained that they had “given much thought and consideration into Enhypen’s future and goals.” The label added that through discussions with the members about the team’s direction, it became clear that Heeseung envisioned a different creative path.

The company concluded, “As such, Heeseung will be parting ways with ENHYPEN, and ENHYPEN will continue official activities henceforth as a group of six members.”

Treasure

While every departure carries its own story, lineup changes are not new in K-pop.

Back in 2022, YG Entertainment’s Treasure continued as a 10-member act after Mashiho and Bang Yedam left the group. Their exits were confirmed on Nov. 8, 2022, following the termination of their contracts with the entertainment company. Mashiho stepped away to focus on recovering from health concerns, while Yedam decided to concentrate on building a career as a music producer.

Riize

Another group that experienced a turbulent lineup shift is Riize. Member Hong Seunghan permanently left the group on Oct. 13, 2024. The decision, announced by Wizard Production under SM Entertainment, came just two days after the agency had initially revealed his return from an 11-month hiatus that began in Nov. 2023.

In 2025, Seunghan began his solo journey, debuting with the single “Waste No Time” under the stage name XngHan, while Riize continued as a six-member group.

WayV

Changes also touched WayV, when Lucas officially left both WayV and NCT on May 10, 2023. After a hiatus that began in August 2021, the artist eventually shifted his focus to solo activities under SM Entertainment.

Le Sserafim

Meanwhile, Le Sserafim saw one of the earliest lineup changes among fourth-generation acts when Kim Garam exited the group on July 20, 2022. Her contract with Source Music was terminated following school bullying accusations. She had been on hiatus since May that year, shortly after the group’s debut.

Though departures can be emotional moments for fans, they are also reminders of how dynamic the K-pop industry can be. In K-pop, change can be difficult, but it is also part of the industry’s story. It’s not for the faint-hearted.

For many fans, the goal remains the same, which is to continue cheering for the artists they admire, whether together on one stage or pursuing their own paths.
