A London council has ordered a 3D art installation above a Joe & The Juice shop to be removed.
The artwork had been on the side of the branch in Chalk Farm, north London, for roughly six months.
But last week Camden Council stepped in and asked for it to be removed pending planning approval.
An application was submitted in February for the giant painted vinyl cup, but the authority said that no decision had been made yet.
It was removed by a crane last week despite intentions for it to stay until at least 2031.
The pink mural itself, painted by doodle artist Frankie Curtis, will remain in place with some adjustments to remove the advertisement.
In the planning application, the company wrote: ‘Joe & The Juice are a prominent juice bar/café known by many people around the world for exceptional smoothies, juices and food.
‘Allowing Joe & The Juice to operate in the space will bring increased employment and opportunities for local people and continued social and economic regeneration of the borough.
‘The wall along Hartland Road has had existing murals in the past, dating back to 2014.
‘The proposed signage has been designed in keeping with the surrounding area of Camden and the growing alternative essence that the locality provides.’
The whole mural, including the cup, measures 4200mm by 2250mm – or 13.7ft by 7.4ft, according to planning documents.
A Camden Council spokesperson said: ‘This advertisement, which has now been removed, was displayed without consent.
