Two young boys have been taken to hospital after being stabbed at a north-west London high school as police search for the culprit.

A 12-year-old and a 13-year-old student were attacked just before 1pm at Kingsbury High School in Brent while school was in session.

The Metropolitan Police said a suspect has been identified but not captured, but the school was locked down and later released in a ‘controlled manner’. The area remains cordoned off.

Police are searching for the teenage boy they believe to be behind the attack, with Officer Luke Williams saying: ‘We want to reassure local students, parents and local residents that we have deployed significant resources to the area and are doing everything we can to locate the suspect.’

The condition of the two boys injured is currently unknown, but they were taken to the hospital by the London Ambulance Service.

The school caters to students between the ages of 11 and 18, and has two sites near each other in Brent.

In a statement, the school said: ‘We want to make you aware that there has been a serious incident at Kingsbury High School today. We are working closely with the relevant authorities and following all necessary procedures.

‘The situation is now under control, and we have already spoken directly with the parents and carers of the students involved.

‘We understand that this will be concerning. At present, it is not possible to enter or leave the school site while the response continues. We will provide further updates as soon as we are able to share confirmed information.’
