Piccadilly Circus descended into chaos last night after fans couldn’t handle England’s World Cup result.
A lone Argentine supporter was escorted away from the huge crowds of England fans after the World Cup loss yesterday evening.
Tensions flared up in central London after the Three Lions were knocked out by Argentina in an intense game.
The man, wearing an Argentina fan shirt with Messi emblazoned on it, was flanked by Metropolitan Police officers as they rushed him to safety from the screaming crowds.
Officers told people to stay back as fans wrapped in England flags shouted and swore at the young man, calling him a ‘w****r’ and making hand gestures.
He was taken to a police van after being walked through a wall of jeering crowds kept separate by the officers.
The Argentina fan appeared stunned by the violent behavior and raised his hands in the air after reaching the safety of the van before being driven away. There is no suggestion he did anything wrong.
At least one object is said to have been thrown at him.
Footage shared on social media shows police and security guards separate the hooligans, many of them with their phones out.
Metro contacted the Met Police for a comment.

Reactions to the game
The Three Lions’ successful run in the 2026 World Cup came to an end yesterday after they were beaten 2-1 by Argentina, the defending champions.
England fans watching the game at Wembley’s Boxpark were left in tears and their heads hanging after the bitter result.
Twin brothers Luke and Vee Moore, aged 33, said they believed Three Lions had a good chance of winning.
Vee said: ‘We fumbled it. I’m feeling disappointed, this was a great chance to win the World Cup and this was a weak Argentina team.
‘If we got out-classed, I’d be like, okay, cool. England did not play a better team today. We were too defensive after we went one nil up.’
Luke said he was disappointed because he ‘thought it was coming home.’
Argentina and Spain will come head-to-head in Sunday’s final.
The Argentine team’s manager, Lionel Scaloni, rubbed salt in the wounds by saying he and his players could tell England were ‘doubting themselves.’
