LOS ANGELES – Hollywood star Angelina Jolie has officially placed her historic estate on the market for $29.9 million, nearly two years after expressing her desire to leave the United States for a permanent move abroad.

The 50-year-old actress acquired the historic property, once owned by legendary filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille, in 2017 for $24.5 million. This luxurious six bedroom, 10-bathroom estate has been Jolie’s primary residence since her separation from actor Brad Pitt.

In a 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jolie revealed that she hoped to relocate soon after her youngest children, twins Knox and Vivienne, turned 18.

“I grew up in this town. I am here because of a divorce, but as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave,” she said, expressing a desire to spend more time in Cambodia.

Jolie noted the challenges of raising a large family in the public eye, emphasizing the importance of privacy and safety.

“When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, safety,” she explained, adding that she looks forward to exploring the world further once her children reach adulthood.

The decision to sell comes just months before the twins celebrate their 18th birthday.

The estate, which spans nearly two acres and boasts significant historical value, is listed with Jon Grauman of Resident Group and Ernie Carswell of Sotheby’s International Realty, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Jolie’s name is not mentioned in the listing, which went live on May 4.

Described as an “iconic compound,” the property’s listing highlights its storied history and unique architectural features. Originally designed by architect B. Cooper Corbett in 1913, the estate became a haven for cinematic innovation after DeMille acquired it in 1916.

The listing showcases amenities like a fitness studio, a tea house, a guest studio, and a pool house, though interior images were omitted to protect Jolie’s privacy. The property offers sweeping views of the Hollywood Hills and Griffith Observatory, further adding to its allure.

During the devastating 2025 California wildfires, Jolie opened her home to friends left homeless by the fires.

It remains unclear if Jolie plans to sell any of her other US properties. She has previously mentioned that her New York City apartment serves as a temporary residence for her children.
