A lorry driver was electrocuted in front of his 14-year-old son when the vehicle hit an overhead power line, an inquest was told.
Andy Lloyd, 56, ran a family business and had the lad out with him on work experience when the freak accident occurred in May last year.
Ruthin Coroner’s Court heard Lloyd, from Llanelian in Conwy, climbed down from the cab but was electrocuted after touching the metal step as the lorry sat against the 11,000-volt cables.
The tragedy happened less than a month before he was due to marry.
Mr Lloyd had gone to Tan y Dderwen Farm in Betws-yn-Rhos to drop off a load of hardcore.

In a statement, his son described seeing the grab arms coming into contact with the overhead cables.
He said he shouted to his dad to be careful, but Mr Lloyd had already stepped out of the cab.
Witnesses at the farm saw flames coming from the rear tyres of the lorry and Mr Lloyd’s boots before he collapsed.
One of the men then noticed the boy in the lorry and helped him exit safely while another carried out CPR.
Mr Lloyd’s partner Hayley Lloyd said his ‘last moments were spent in his truck with his son beside him’.
She added: ‘He cared quietly but fiercely for those around him.’
The inquest heard that Devon Locke, a Scottish Power engineer, was sent to investigate after the supply had been tripped.
He arrived to find the lorry was still in contact with the cables running above the field and plans were made to make it safe.
Senior coroner John Gittins concluded Mr Lloyd died as a result of an accident at the inquest in Ruthin.
