Actress Lotlot de Leon is representing the Philippines at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) as part of the sociopolitical drama “Silenced Nights.”
The film made history as the first Filipino entry in the festival’s Platform Programme, competing against 11 other international titles.
In a social media post, de Leon expressed her gratitude for attending TIFF and being part of the acclaimed film.
“What an honor to be here with the best, representing our country 
,” she wrote. “So proud and humbled to be part of SILENCED NIGHTS, the first Filipino film included in the Platform Programme of the Toronto International Film Festival! .”

“Silenced Nights” made its world premiere at the TIFF Lightbox in Toronto.
The film is directed by Lawrence Fajardo and produced by Quantum Films.
The story follows an ordinary laborer whose life changes after witnessing the extrajudicial killing of a teenage boy, exploring how fear and violence silence both individuals and entire communities.
The film also stars Nico Antonio, Ina Feleo, Tanya Gomez, Jorybell Agoto and more.
Another Filipino star, Enchong Dee, is also at the festival with “The Remotes,” another Philippine film featured in the 2026 lineup.
