Filipina singer and actress Nadine Lustre continues to explore new musical territory as she teams up with Black Eyed Peas member Apl.de.Ap for “Donuts.”
Released under Cool Girl Records, the track arrives after Lustre’s return to the spotlight with “Personal,” but introduces a different energy from her previous release.
While “Personal” highlighted a polished pop sound, “Donuts” embraces a more experimental and attitude-driven approach. It is a genre-blending collaboration that combines pop, hip-hop and R&B influences.
The singer-actress shared her excitement over working with the international Filipino American rapper, describing the experience as “a little surreal making music with a legend.”
The collaboration marks a significant moment for Lustre as she continues to build her identity beyond traditional pop sounds and explore a more dynamic musical direction.
Driven by futuristic yet nostalgic production, “Donuts” features heavy percussion, rhythmic beats and confident rap-singing sections from Lustre. The track highlights her smooth delivery and commanding presence, as she effortlessly moves between melodic hooks and sharper verses that reflect her signature honesty and edge.
