Netflix sees more than a dozen documentaries dropping October 2025. While some dive deep into the lives of musical acts like Mexican pop icon Juan Gabriel and former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, many of the October releases appeal to the darker Halloween atmosphere.
Between killers, predators and the unseen, these documentaries are for those craving for the eerie and unsettling this October.
‘True Haunting’ (Oct. 7)
Horror filmmaking mastermind James Wan partners with Netflix to produce this five-episode series featuring testimonies and dramatization of paranormal encounters.
‘My Father, the BTK Killer’ (Oct. 10)
Kerri Rawson grapples with the discovery that her father is notorious serial killer Dennis Rader, also known as the BTK killer.

‘The Perfect Neighbor’ (Oct. 17)
Through police bodycam footage, this raw documentary follows the disputes between Florida neighbors that lead to a lethal shooting. “The Perfect Neighbor” won a Directing Award at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.

‘Nightmares of Nature’ Season 2 (Oct. 28)
Nature documentary meets horror cinematography as reimagined by Blumhouse Productions, the company behind successful titles like “Get Out,” “The Purge” and more.
Narrated by actress Maya Hawke, the first season dropped Sept. 30, with the second season quickly following this October.

‘Aileen: Queen of the Serial Killers’ (Oct. 30)
Serial killer Aileen Wuornos murdered seven men while working as a prostitute in Florida between 1989 and 1990. This documentary examines her story and crimes through audio interviews, archival footage and never-before-seen interviews with Wuornos herself.
