Filipino American pop superstar Olivia Rodrigo created a massive final wave of anticipation for her upcoming album after announcing a surprise collaboration with The Cure frontman Robert Smith.
The new track, titled “What’s Wrong with Me,” is set to be released on June 12 and will serve as the third single from her third studio album, “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love.”
In a post shared on Instagram, Rodrigo expressed her disbelief and admiration over the collaboration. She revealed that “what’s wrong with me featuring Robert Smith will be out June 12 with the album,” and admitted she was still processing the experience of working with him.

Calling Smith one of the most influential artists she has ever encountered, she said he is, in her view, “one of the most brilliant, legendary, wonderful people to ever exist.”
She also reflected on their live performance of the song at Primavera, describing the night as unforgettable and emotionally charged. Rodrigo ended her message writing that she could not wait for fans to hear both the track and the full record.
Reactions from the music world quickly followed. Gracie Abrams praised the collaboration with a simple but enthusiastic “The greatest,” while alternative rock band Garbage also reacted positively, calling the track “Fantastic.”
The pairing of Rodrigo’s diary-like songwriting with Smith’s haunting, atmospheric legacy has already sparked curiosity among fans.
Many are expecting a darker, moodier sonic direction that evolves Rodrigo’s sound further than before, while still keeping her signature emotional honesty intact.
