Philippine Ballet Theatre (PBT) will bring an original full-length ballet titled, “Sarimanok,” to UCLA’s Royce Hall in Los Angeles on Saturday, Oct. 25.
“Sarimanok,” based on the mythological bird from Filipino Mindanao legend, is PBT’s newest work that tells the love story between a mortal and a moon goddess.
The upcoming performance is a follow-up to the well-received “Ibalon” show at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts the previous year.

Philippine Ballet Theatre will be joined onstage by many talented Filipino musicians and groups, namely acclaimed pianist Raul Sunico, award-winning singer and songwriter Odette Quesada, actor and singer Lyndon Apostol, Holy Family Filipino Choir and Holy Family Children’s Concert Chorus.
‘Pinagmulan’ exhibit
The audience will also get to see the “Pinagmulan” exhibit preceding the performance, a showcase of indigenous Philippine textiles and fabrics, as well as the works of various Philippine fashion designers, some of which will be shown for the first time outside the country.
“This year, we are bringing the masterful works of Pitoy Moreno, Ban Farrales, Ramon Valera, Auero Alonzo and Christian Espiritu, some weavers and embroiderers,” said Executive Producer Rosie Chua. “We want the audience, not just Filipinos, to engage with and appreciate the rich history and culture of the Philippines through these original works.”
Los Angeles is just one of the stops in PBT’s US tour.
“Tickets are $200, $150, $100, $75 with discounted ticket prices for UCLA students, faculty and staff upon presentation of valid University I.D. Tickets can be purchased at the UCLA Central Ticket Office (CTO) by calling (310)-825-2101 or by visiting RoyceHall.org.
The “Pinagmulan” Philippine textile and fashion exhibit will be open for viewing beginning at 4 p.m.
