Severe delays on Elizabeth line to Heathrow Airport caused by faulty track

Two lines of the London Underground are facing serious delays this morning.

The Elizabeth line has severe delays between Paddington and Heathrow/Reading due to a faulty track on the Acton Main Line.

The damaged rail means trains have to travel at a slower speed than usual across it, which is slowing things down.

Plus, the Piccadilly line is partially suspended again, for the third day in a row, due to ‘poor rail conditions caused by significant leaf fall’.

This means there’s no service between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge.

Meanwhile, there is a risk of disruption at Ilford station while police investigate after a staff member was assaulted last night.

Elsewhere, the A34 is blocked southbound near Abingdon in Oxfordshire after a crash involving three lorries. Two of them are very badly damaged and have shed their loads onto the road.

Other Tube lines are currently running a good service – but we’ll keep you up to date with the latest updates in our live blog below.
