Six people are feared dead after a small plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean.
The seven-seater Cessna 414 crashed three miles west of Point Loma just off the San Diego coast about 12.50pm on Sunday.
The plane took off from San Diego International Airport and was headed to Phoenix, Arizona.
Surfer Tyson Wislofsky told NBC 7: ‘I saw him come down at an angle. He wasn’t flying straight to the ground.
‘The next time he came out of the clouds, he went straight into the water. But after I saw this splash, about six seconds later, it was dead silent.
‘I knew that they went in the water, nose first, at a high speed.’
The cause of the crash is unclear and is being investigated by transport officials.
The debris field is 200 feet, the US Coast Guard said.
The 1970 Cessna 414 is owned by Optimal Health Systems, a vitamin and supplement shop in Pima, Arizona, Federal Aviation Administration records show.
